Modi emerges as most-subscribed global leader on YouTube, crosses 30 million mark
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the world’s most-subscribed political leader on YouTube, with his official channel crossing 30 million subscribers, underscoring his dominant digital presence across platforms.
With this milestone, Modi has moved significantly ahead of other global leaders in terms of online reach and engagement. Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro ranks second in subscriber count among political leaders on YouTube, but his numbers are reportedly only a fraction — roughly one-fourth — of Modi’s tally.
Modi’s subscriber base is also said to be nearly seven times higher than that of U.S. President Donald Trump on the platform, reflecting the scale of his digital connect and consistent content strategy that includes speeches, public addresses, campaign messages and governance updates.
In the domestic political landscape, Modi’s YouTube presence far outpaces that of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, with nearly three times more subscribers. His channel also reportedly has four times more subscribers than those of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Indian National Congress combined.
Even before this YouTube milestone, Modi had set records on Instagram by surpassing 100 million followers, becoming one of the most-followed global political figures on the platform. Since joining Instagram in 2014, his follower base has steadily grown, placing him ahead of several world leaders in terms of personal digital outreach.
Globally, other leaders with significant Instagram followings include Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Argentine President Javier Milei.
Within India, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath trails Modi on Instagram, followed by Rahul Gandhi.
Political observers note that Modi’s strong digital footprint has become a key pillar of his communication strategy, enabling direct outreach to millions of supporters worldwide while shaping political discourse across social media platforms.
