Karnataka: A nine-month-old baby tests positive for Covid-19

Covid-19: was spreading slowly in Bengaluru. A statement released by the Health Department on Friday said that 35 active Covid-19 cases have been reported in Karnataka so far, out of which 32 are from Bengaluru.

A nine-month-old baby boy in Bengaluru has tested positive for Covid-19, health department officials said on Friday. He said there has been a gradual increase in cases over the last 20 days. Harsha Gupta, Principal Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, said that the child tested positive through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on May 22.

“The patient’s health is stable and he is currently admitted to Vani Vilas Hospital in Kalasipalya, Bengaluru,” he said. The public has been encouraged to maintain hand hygiene and use hand sanitizers regularly.

Furthermore, individuals with symptoms of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) are urged to undergo immediate Covid-19 testing to ensure timely treatment and prevent potential outbreaks.

Amid a slight rise in the number of infections across Karnataka, a nine-month-old baby from Hoskote in Bengaluru Rural district tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, health officials confirmed. “Although the situation is well under control, there has been a gradual increase in cases in the last 20 days.

“It is therefore advisable for the public to proactively follow Covid-19 Appropriate Behavior (CAB),” the health department’s advisory said. The advisory recommended that pregnant women, children, individuals with compromised immune systems and those suffering from other illnesses wear face masks when visiting crowded places.

Officials said that individuals with symptoms of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARI) are advised to immediately undergo a Covid-19 test for timely treatment and to prevent further spread. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah appealed to the Central Government to take precautionary measures as Covid-19 cases are increasing in the country.

Speaking to media persons, Siddaramaiah, citing the rising number of Covid-19 cases in countries like Singapore and Hong Kong, said that the central government has not taken steps to screen passengers coming from abroad.
