India will never bow to terrorism: PM Modi marks Pahalgam attack anniversary

New Delhi : Marking one year since the deadly Pahalgam Terror Attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the victims and reiterated India’s firm stance against terrorism, asserting that the nation will never bow to terror threats.
Taking to the social media platform X, the Prime Minister expressed condolences to the families of the 26 people who lost their lives in the attack. “We remember the innocent lives lost in the Pahalgam terror attack. Their loss can never be forgotten. As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve,” he said.
The attack had taken place near the picturesque tourist destination of Baisaran in Pahalgam, where tourists had gathered in large numbers. Armed terrorists reportedly opened fire indiscriminately, triggering panic and chaos. Several victims were specifically targeted, leading to the deaths of 26 tourists and injuries to many others.
The incident had sent shockwaves across the country, with disturbing visuals of grieving families emerging from the site. Survivors recounted scenes of horror as people ran for cover while gunshots rang out in the valley.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to counter terrorism, Modi warned that such “cowardly acts” would never succeed. “India will never bow to any form of terrorism. The evil designs of terrorists will never succeed,” he stated.
In response to the attack, India had launched a swift and decisive counter-operation. Within 15 days, the armed forces initiated Operation Sindhoor targeting terror infrastructure across the border. The operation aimed at dismantling networks linked to outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Indian missile strikes reportedly destroyed multiple terror hideouts, including key facilities in Pakistan. Among them was the LeT headquarters in Muridke near Lahore, which was reduced to rubble. The strikes also targeted a major JeM facility, dealing a significant blow to the terror network.
The government maintained that the operation demonstrated India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and its readiness to take decisive action when national security is threatened.
As the nation remembered the victims, calls for continued vigilance and stronger counter-terror mechanisms were reiterated. The anniversary served as a reminder of the persistent threat of terrorism and the need for collective resolve to combat it.
