IMD issued heavy rainfall alert in this state: issues yellow alert

India Meteorological Department said Odisha is likely to witness enhanced rainfall activity from Monday. Several districts in the state may experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. IMD issued heavy rainfall alert in this state: issues yellow alert. The Regional Met Centre of the IMD in Bhubaneswar today said that heavy rainfall will continue to lash one or two places in several districts of Odisha in the next 4 to 5 days.

The India Meteorological Department in its evening bulletin dated September 4 had issued heavy rainfall alert Yellow Alert for 23 districts with forecast of thunderstorm activities. According to the IMD, thunderstorms with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

Similarly, the Yellow Alert has also been issued for the districts of Bhadrak, Kendrapara Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Balasore for the next 24 hours. The Met office has predicted heavy rainfall for one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada.

According to IMD, the western end of the monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to pass through Bhatinda, Rohtak, Shahjahanpur and the eastern end runs along the foothills of the Himalayas. This apart the north-south through persists from southeast Madhya Pradesh to Comorin area across Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and interior Karnataka at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

Bengaluru reeled under severe waterlogging, as incessant heavy rainfall lashed the city. Waterlogging led to traffic jams and disruptions in the lives of normal people in several parts of Bengaluru including Koramangala. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of thunderous rainfall till September 9 across Karnataka. Heavy rains are going to lash Bengaluru, three districts of coastal Karnataka and hilly regions of the state from Sunday.
