Weather Update: IMD issued heavy rainfall alert in these states today

According to the official release, "Fairly widespread light to moderate rain/snowfall with thunder, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand on April 15, 2024."

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain, snowfall and thundershower activity over North India and Central India till Monday. Weather Update: IMD issued heavy rainfall alert in these states today.

According to the official release, “Fairly widespread light to moderate rain/snowfall with thunder, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand on April 15, 2024.”

IMD has predicted widespread rain with thunder, lightning and squall over Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and Rajasthan on Sunday. The weather forecast for New Delhi indicates cloudy weather with light rain and thundershower on Sunday, with wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph.

Monday will be mostly cloudy with very light showers and gusty winds expected at 30-40 kmph. The effects of Western Disturbance will be seen from April 18-19. Till then the temperature will not reach 40 degrees Celsius. He said that after April 18, the temperature will start increasing day by day.

The IMD has forecast that Delhi will witness mostly cloudy weather on Sunday, with wind speed of 35 to 40 kmph expected. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may drop to around 20 degrees Celsius.

Additionally, the IMD has issued an advisory for thunder and lightning in the Delhi-NCR region, advising people to stay indoors. He recommended keeping windows and doors closed and avoiding unnecessary travel during this period to ensure safety. It is imperative that residents heed these warnings and take appropriate precautions to stay safe during inclement weather conditions.
