IMD issued heavy rainfall alert and Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls is also likely over the states on September 17. weather report said Isolated heavy falls are forecast over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Gujarat Region for the next 24 hours; over Maharashtra and Konkan-Goa for the next 48 hours and over Odisha on September 18 and 19. Similar weather may prevail over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, subdued rainfall activity is likely over South Peninsular India during the next five days. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in isolated places of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan-Goa. Heavy showers are likely over the Gujarat region, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on September 16.

India Meteorological Department said Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are forecast over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gujarat State, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Squally weather (wind speed 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph) is very likely over along and off south Gujarat, north Maharashtra coasts, adjoining the northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea.
