Heavy Rains Disrupt Normal Life Across Maharashtra as Mumbai Faces Flooding

Persistent monsoon rains have caused widespread flooding across Maharashtra, disrupting transport, affecting daily life, and prompting authorities to close schools in several districts as conditions remain severe.

Relentless monsoon rains have battered Maharashtra, causing widespread disruption across Mumbai and several surrounding regions. Heavy downpours have flooded roads, affected public transport, and brought normal life to a standstill in many parts of the state.

Mumbai has been among the worst affected, with waterlogging reported across several low lying areas. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region, including Thane, Palghar, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Vasai Virar, Satara, and parts of the Western Ghats, has witnessed intense rainfall over the past several days.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the rainfall has been more intense than initially anticipated and warned that the adverse weather conditions are expected to continue until July 6. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating relief efforts in the affected areas.

Heavy rainfall over the past five days has also disrupted railway services, leading to delays and inconvenience for thousands of commuters. Floodwaters entered several residential areas, while traffic movement on major highways was severely affected due to waterlogging and reduced visibility.

In view of the worsening weather, the Maharashtra government has already declared holidays for schools in Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar districts to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Officials have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow weather advisories as emergency teams continue to respond to the impact of the ongoing monsoon across the state.
