Heavy rainfall alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and other weather agencies, a heavy rainfall alert has been issued for the next two days, particularly in several parts of India.  Heavy rainfall alert in these states for next 48 hours.

Extremely heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places. The IMD has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri, urging residents to avoid non-essential travel. Severe waterlogging has been reported in Mumbai. Isolated very heavy rainfall is expected on August 18th in Gujarat.

A flash flood threat is in effect for Adilabad and Nirmal districts in telangana. The state is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rains from a low-pressure system. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely West Madhya Pradesh, in particular, may see very heavy rainfall.

Coastal and North Interior Karnataka are expected to have isolated heavy rainfall. There is a possibility of very heavy rainfall over Coastal Karnataka and Telangana. An orange alert has been issued for five districts, including Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kannur, and Kasaragod in Kerala.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh is likely to see isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in these regions. The capital is expected to experience cloudy skies with a chance of patchy rain or thundershowers.

Monsoon activity is set to intensify, with widespread light to moderate rainfall and isolated heavy to very heavy downpours. An orange alert has been issued for several northern districts. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

The continuous rainfall is linked to a low-pressure area that has formed over the Bay of Bengal, which is strengthening monsoon winds and bringing widespread showers to many parts of the country.
