Government Employees Alert: Strict order issued by central government

Government employees have been informed to compulsorily follow the new guidelines issued by the Central government before accepting awards from any private institutions. According to the new guidelines, it is mandatory for government employees to seek prior approval from the competent authority before receiving awards from private institutions.

Also, the ministry said that the award received by the employees should not include any kind of money. The fact that the existing instructions in this regard are not being properly followed has come to the attention of the Ministry, hence this action has been taken.

In the current order issued by the Ministry of Labour, it has been clarified that ‘awards given by private organizations can be accepted only after obtaining the prior approval of the competent authority’. This order has been issued to all the Ministries/Departments of the Central Government.

According to the order passed by the government, the award or gift can be sanctioned ‘only in exceptional circumstances’. The order mentions that the reward should not be in the form of cash or facilities. The records of the awarding private institutions must be correct.

Also should not have gained bad reputation in any way. Rule 14 of the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964 states that ‘No Government servant shall, without the prior permission of the Government, accept any testimonial or make any reference to any other Government servant.

Also, it has been informed that he cannot participate in any meeting or entertainment program organized in the name of another government employee.
