Delhi blast: Watch how terrorist Umar defended suicide bomb attack before the explosion

New Delhi: A week after the devastating car blast near Delhi’s historic Red Fort that killed 15 people, a chilling video of the bomber — Dr Umar Mohammad alias Umar-un-Nabi — has surfaced, revealing how the radicalised young doctor attempted to justify his heinous act as “martyrdom.”

The undated video, recorded before the attack, shows Umar calmly defending suicide bombing, portraying it as a “misunderstood concept” in Islam. The terrorist, speaking fluently in English, attempts to rationalise the brutal act by claiming that people “do not understand what a suicide bombing truly means.”

“One of the most misunderstood concepts is the suicide bombing, which is known in Islam as a martyrdom operation,” Umar says in the video. “Many contradictions are presented, many arguments are raised against it,” he adds, dismissing global condemnation of suicide attacks.

Shockingly, Umar goes on to claim that those involved in such missions knowingly embrace death for a “cause,” and that “death can come anytime,” urging viewers not to “fear dying.” His assertions stand in stark contrast to Islamic teachings, which explicitly forbid suicide.

Authorities say the video exposes the extent of Umar’s radicalisation — a young medical professional transformed into a cold-blooded terrorist who believed mass murder could be justified. Investigators are analysing the footage to trace the ideological ecosystem that indoctrinated him.

The calm, composed manner in which Umar speaks about mass killing has sent shockwaves through security agencies, who warn that this represents the new face of terrorism in India — educated, articulate and dangerously misguided.

The clip, officials say, is not just a confession but a chilling reminder of how extremist propaganda can warp young minds into endorsing barbaric violence as “sacrifice.” The probe into Umar’s network and handlers is ongoing.
