CM Siddaramaiah alleges vote chori after Bihar defeat

Bengaluru: The Bihar Assembly election results of 2025 have sent shockwaves through political corridors, with the NDA registering a decisive lead, leaving the Congress and RJD in a state of severe setback. Even before the complete tally was announced, Congress leaders were quick to raise allegations of vote manipulation, reflecting the party’s habitual low-level politicking.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, responding to media queries in Bengaluru, claimed that there were irregularities in the Bihar polls. “Why the setback occurred, I do not yet know. I will review the details and provide a statement after acquiring accurate information.

There appears to be vote manipulation, but we must respect the mandate of the people,” he said, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic processes despite political disappointment.

The CM’s remarks come amid a backdrop of Congress’s inability to mobilize key voter segments effectively. When asked about the party’s failure to consolidate the OBC vote, he hesitated, highlighting the internal confusion within Congress ranks. “Who is Nitish Kumar? Isn’t he from the OBC community? It’s all confusing,” he remarked, reflecting the lack of coherent strategy from the opposition.

Meanwhile, the issue of farmer protests in Mudhol also drew attention. CM Siddaramaiah noted that while most farmers accepted a sugarcane rate of ₹3,300 per quintal, Mudhol farmers refused to settle, demanding a thorough inquiry into the alleged burning of sugarcane, tractors, and trolleys.

“The farmers claim they did not set anything on fire. An investigation will be conducted, and appropriate action taken against the guilty parties,” he assured, signaling administrative commitment despite political distractions.

The Bihar results underline Congress’s repeated failure to present a united and effective campaign. Party leaders appear more focused on attributing their defeats to alleged malpractices than addressing the underlying issues affecting voters.

This pattern of blaming external factors rather than introspecting on organizational weaknesses demonstrates a continuing culture of political opportunism. The inability to anticipate voter behavior, mobilize core constituencies, and craft credible narratives has left Congress reeling while the NDA consolidates its position.

Observers note that Congress’s tactics—ranging from preemptive allegations of vote theft to incoherent messaging on caste-based politics—reflect a disturbing trend of prioritizing partisan theatrics over governance and public engagement. The Mudhol farmer issue further illustrates the party’s limited on-ground presence and failure to build trust with key voter groups.

As Bihar witnesses a clear mandate in favor of the NDA, Congress faces the consequences of decades of complacency, factionalism, and misplaced priorities. Leaders now must confront an urgent need for internal reform, accountability, and genuine voter outreach if the party is to remain relevant in upcoming state and national contests.
