Jantar Mantar Clash: Delhi Police Arrest CJP Leaders After Barricade Breach

CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were arrested again after breaching police barricades and entering Jantar Mantar despite Section 163 restrictions. The arrests came just hours after they were granted conditional bail.

The standoff between the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and the Delhi Police has intensified as the party continues its protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Jantar Mantar Clash: Delhi Police Arrest CJP Leaders After Barricade Breach.

Ignoring heavy police deployment and prohibitory orders, CJP co-convener Saurav Das and national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka entered the restricted Jantar Mantar protest site on Monday after breaching police barricades. Both leaders were immediately detained and arrested by the Delhi Police.

The arrests came just hours after the two leaders had secured conditional bail from a Special Magistrate’s Court. Their return to the protest site has further escalated tensions in the national capital.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had removed Jantar Mantar from the list of officially designated protest sites and imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (previously Section 144 of the CrPC) in the surrounding area.

Despite the restrictions, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka arrived at the venue along with hundreds of supporters on Monday afternoon and pushed through the first layer of police barricades to enter the prohibited zone.

Police personnel attempted to stop the leaders at the entrance to Jantar Mantar, leading to a heated verbal exchange and physical scuffle. Delhi Police officers, assisted by the Rapid Action Force (RAF), then forcibly removed both leaders, placed them in a police vehicle, and took them to an undisclosed police station.
