UP Government: Over 10,000 encounters, 179 criminals killed in UP in 6 years

Lucknow: The statistics of actions taken against criminals by the Yogi Adityanath-led government in the last 6 years have come to the fore. During the Yogi government, the Uttar Pradesh police conducted 10,814 encounters in these 6 years, in which 179 criminals were killed, it said. The government is rolling out its tough policy through the death of Yogi Adityanath Sarkar in an encounter. The criminals killed in the encounter are listed. 63 criminals were killed in an encounter in Meerut area. Meerut zone saw the highest number of 3,152 encounters since 2017. 1708 criminals were also injured here. However, Varanasi is second with 20 encounter deaths. It is followed by Agra at the third position with 14 encounter deaths.

However, not only the criminals but also the police have suffered in the encounters in Uttar Pradesh. UP Police arrested 23,069 miscreants in encounters between March 20, 2017 and March 6, 2023. 4911 criminals were injured in these encounters. 13 police officers were also killed in the clash. At the same time, 1424 policemen were injured. In total, the police arrested 23,125 criminals through these encounters.

At the same time, it is significant that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and senior leaders and investors have praised UP’s law and order situation. UP Police has worked planned and phased to curb crime and crack down on criminals and encounter is a big tactic which has created fear among criminals.
