Delhi liquor scam: Delhi Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia to judicial custody till March 20

New Delhi: CBI last week arrested Manish Sisodia in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation of the Delhi liquor policy for 2021-22. Rouse Avenue Court in the national capital on Monday sent former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to judicial custody till March 20 in the case pertaining to the excise policy case. The court allowed Manish Sisodia to carry a pair of spectacles, a diary, a pen, and the Bhagavad Gita during his judicial custody. The AAP leader, who was produced before special judge MK Nagpal on the expiry of his seven-day custodial interrogation allowed by the court earlier, has also been allowed to have medicines prescribed in his MLC conducted by CBI officials.

As requested by Sisodia’s counsel, Court has also directed Jail Superintendent to consider the request of keeping him in the ‘Vipassana’ cell. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last week arrested Sisodia in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy for 2021-22.

Following his arrest, he resigned as Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister on February 28. Earlier, Manish Sisodia had stated in this bail plea that he was being asked the same questions over and over, which was causing him mental distress. According to the CBI, Sisodia was recalcitrant and evasive during his interrogation. They also cited lost time during his medical test and the Supreme Court hearing on his bail petition.
