Yash’s ‘Toxic’ creates massive buzz; Telugu distribution rights sold for record Rs 120 crore
Bengaluru: The teaser trailer of Kannada superstar Yash’s much-awaited film Toxic has taken the Indian film industry by storm, generating unprecedented excitement among fans.
The promotional video, released recently, has not only created huge hype but has also sparked controversy, with a section of viewers alleging that the content is too bold to be watched with family.
Despite the mixed reactions, one thing is clear – the film has already emerged as one of the most anticipated releases of 2026.
Pan-India star Yash, popularly known as Rocking Star after the blockbuster KGF series, is all set to return to the big screen with Toxic, which is scheduled for worldwide release on March 19, 2026. Even before its theatrical release, the movie has begun rewriting trade records.
In a major development, the Telugu distribution rights of Toxic have been sold for a staggering Rs 120 crore, creating a new benchmark in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana film markets. Never before has a Kannada film – or even a Telugu film – fetched such a huge amount for distribution in the Telugu-speaking states.
According to trade sources, the distribution rights have been acquired by leading Tollywood producer and distributor Dil Raju. Industry insiders say this is the highest-ever price paid for distribution rights in the Telugu market, proving the massive craze surrounding Yash and his upcoming film.
The record-breaking deal has sent shockwaves across the film fraternity. “Selling Telugu rights for Rs 120 crore is not a small achievement. It shows the kind of confidence distributors have in the film and in Yash’s star power,” a film trade analyst commented.
The teaser trailer of Toxic, released last month, has played a major role in building this anticipation. Packed with high-octane visuals and intense action sequences, the teaser has been widely appreciated for its stylish presentation.
However, it has also attracted criticism from certain quarters for allegedly containing adult-oriented visuals. Some viewers have even lodged complaints stating that the trailer is not suitable for family audiences.
Social media platforms have been flooded with debates over the tone and content of the teaser. But controversies aside, the buzz around the film has only increased with every passing day.
Fans of Yash believe that Toxic will be another game-changer for Kannada cinema, just like the KGF franchise. The film is being mounted on a grand scale and is expected to release in multiple languages across the globe.
With record-breaking pre-release business and sky-high expectations, Toxic is already being hailed as one of the biggest pan-India films in recent times. All eyes are now on March 19 to see whether Yash can once again recreate box-office magic.
