Two escape narrowly as training aircraft crashes in Vijayapura

Vijayapura: A private training aircraft crashed in Babaleshwar taluk of Vijayapura district on Sunday, creating panic in the area. Fortunately, both occupants on board, including the pilot, escaped with minor injuries in what officials described as a narrow escape.

The incident took place near Mangaluru village in the taluk. According to police sources, the two-seater light aircraft was on a routine training flight when it suddenly developed a technical problem and crashed into an open agricultural field. The exact reason for the accident is yet to be determined.

Eyewitnesses reported that the aircraft came down rapidly and hit the ground with a loud noise. Due to the impact, the plane broke into three pieces. However, in a timely act, both the pilot and the trainee passenger managed to jump out of the aircraft moments before it hit the ground, saving their lives.

Police officials and local residents rushed to the spot immediately after the crash. The injured persons were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Sources said that both suffered minor injuries and are out of danger.

Preliminary information suggests that the training aircraft was flying from Kalaburagi to Belagavi as part of a routine training exercise. However, aviation authorities are yet to officially confirm the flight details and the cause of the crash.

A team of experts from the aviation department is expected to visit the site to conduct a detailed investigation. The wreckage of the aircraft has been secured, and further technical examination will be carried out to determine whether the crash was caused by mechanical failure, weather conditions or pilot error.

Local police have registered a case and are gathering more information. Further updates are awaited as officials continue their inquiry into the incident.
