Seven killed in multi-vehicle crash near Hoskote

Bengaluru: In a tragic road accident early Friday morning, seven people were killed on the spot after a car collided with a motorcycle and a canter truck near Hoskote in Bangalore Rural district. Police suspect overspeeding to be the primary cause of the fatal crash.

The accident occurred near M. Sathyavara village in Hoskote taluk along the busy Hoskote–Dabaspete National Highway. According to preliminary information, an XUV car first rammed into a motorcycle that was moving ahead of it.

The driver then reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which swerved and crashed into a canter truck traveling on the highway. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the car completely mangled.

All six occupants of the car died on the spot, along with the motorcycle rider, taking the total death toll to seven. Visuals from the accident site showed the front portion of the SUV crushed beyond recognition, underscoring the intensity of the crash.

Police officials said six of the deceased were residents of Kothanur in Bengaluru. Their identities are yet to be formally confirmed, and efforts are underway to inform family members. The body of the biker has also been sent for identification and further legal procedures.

Superintendent of Police Chandrakant from Bangalore Rural district visited the spot and inspected the accident site. Senior officers supervised the rescue and clearance operations to ensure traffic flow was restored on the highway, which witnessed temporary disruption following the mishap.

Preliminary investigations indicate that overspeeding may have led to the chain collision. However, officials stated that a detailed probe will be conducted to ascertain the exact sequence of events and whether negligence or other factors contributed to the tragedy.

The bodies have been shifted to the Hoskote Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.

The incident once again raises concerns over road safety and reckless driving on highways around Bengaluru, where increasing vehicular movement and high speeds continue to pose serious risks to commuters.
