Kolar bomb threat email turns out to be hoax by 13 yr old Tamil Nadu girl

Kolar: An anonymous bomb threat email received by the Kolar Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday morning caused panic and put the district administration on high alert for several hours.

Similar threat emails were sent simultaneously to the Deputy Commissioners’ offices in Kolar and Bidar, triggering an immediate security response. According to officials, the threatening email was received around 6 am from an unknown sender, but the matter came to the notice of the district administration and police nearly three hours later.

Following this, Kolar Rural Police swung into action and rushed to the spot. Bomb disposal squad, dog squad, fire services and additional police personnel were deployed, and an extensive search operation was launched.

As a precautionary measure, all staff members inside the Deputy Commissioner’s office were evacuated immediately. Security teams conducted a thorough inch-by-inch inspection of the entire premises, including office sections, rooms and the video conference chamber. The operation created an atmosphere of fear and tension in the DC office complex for some time.

Coincidentally, Bangarapete MLA S.N. Narayanaswamy was holding a district-level meeting with officials in the VC chamber at the same time. The meeting was suspended, and the MLA, along with officers, stepped out to cooperate with the security checks.

Kolar Deputy Commissioner Dr. M.R. Ravi and Superintendent of Police Nikhil personally supervised the situation and monitored the search operation. After several hours of inspection, no explosives or suspicious materials were found, bringing relief to officials and staff.

Police investigation later revealed that the bomb threat email was sent by a 13-year-old girl from Mylapore in Tamil Nadu. The girl reportedly sent the mail to draw attention to a sexual assault allegedly committed against her. She initially mentioned the word “RDX” in the email before detailing her grievance, police said.

Speaking to the media, SP Nikhil clarified that it was not a genuine bomb threat, but standard protocol was followed to ensure public safety. He also appealed to citizens not to panic.
