Madikeri: Husband, two others detained for secretly transporting wife’s body post-suicide
Madikeri: In a shocking incident, a woman’s body was found inside a car that was stopped for inspection near the Lingapura forest checkpost on the Kodagu border late Friday night. Forest personnel grew suspicious when an Alto 800 car, approaching around 2 a.m., abruptly changed direction upon noticing staff at the checkpost.
Sensing something amiss, the staff intercepted the vehicle and conducted a check, during which they discovered the body of a woman inside. The forest personnel immediately alerted the Siddapura Police, who rushed to the spot and detained all three men travelling in the car.
Who are the people involved?
According to preliminary information, the deceased has been identified as Nankidevi (44), originally from Haryana. She had been living with her husband Rakesh Kumar and two friends—Vikas (32) and Satveer (32)—in a rented house in Metagalli, Mysuru.
Police sources indicate that Nankidevi allegedly died by suicide by hanging inside the house on Friday night when no one else was present. Her husband reportedly discovered her upon returning home after work. Panicked, Rakesh Kumar and his friends decided to transport the body to Kodagu for reasons not yet known.
Their suspicious movement near the Lingapura forest checkpost led to the discovery of the body.
Investigation underway:
Siddapura Police have seized the vehicle and taken the three men into custody for questioning. Further investigation is ongoing to verify the husband’s claims and to determine whether there was any foul play or attempt to dispose of the body illegally.
Sources close to the family claim that Nankidevi had been suffering from epilepsy and had undergone repeated treatments in Mysuru hospitals.
Police are now awaiting medical reports and conducting detailed inquiries to establish the exact cause of death and the motive behind transporting the body toward Kodagu in the middle of the night.
