Businessman claims he spent Rs 3 crore on actress, gifted site and luxury car, denies sexual harassment charges

Bengaluru: In a dramatic twist to the sexual harassment case filed by a Kannada film actress, businessman Aravind Venkatesh Reddy allegedly told police during interrogation that he had spent nearly ₹3 crore on the actress over the past few years. He reportedly claimed to have bought her a residential site, a house, and even gifted her a high-end car.

According to investigators at the Govindarajanagar Police Station, Inspector Subramani questioned the real estate entrepreneur following his arrest at the Kempegowda International Airport early Friday morning. During the interrogation, Reddy is said to have insisted that he had never harassed the actress and instead accused her of “betraying” him.

“I spent crores on her and supported her career. But she started appearing with someone else. I did not harass her — she cheated me,” Reddy allegedly told the police, according to sources.

Case background

Reddy, owner of the AVR Group and known in social circles for his involvement in cricket franchises and film production, came into contact with the actress in 2021. The actress later approached RR Nagar Police and filed a complaint accusing him of persistent sexual harassment and threats.

The case was transferred to Govindarajanagar Police five days ago for further investigation. With Reddy reportedly evading summons, police had issued a lookout notice against him.

On Friday morning, officers from the ACP Chandan-led team intercepted Reddy at the Bengaluru airport as he arrived from Sri Lanka and arrested him.

Investigation underway
