Hassan heart attack cases: 22 young aged death in 40 days

Hassan heart attack cases: There is an alarming situation in Hassan district, Karnataka, with a significant and concerning rise in heart attack-related deaths, particularly among young and middle-aged individuals. Hassan heart attack cases: 22 young aged death in 40 days.

Hassan district has reported 22 deaths due to heart attacks within the last 40 days. Shockingly, five of these individuals were aged between 19 and 25, and another eight were between 25 and 45. This trend of younger individuals succumbing to cardiac arrest has caused widespread concern and alarm.

Government Probe Ordered:

Taking serious cognizance of this situation, the Karnataka State government has ordered an urgent and comprehensive investigation. Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has confirmed that the Health Department is taking the matter seriously and has instructed a team of experts under the chairmanship of the Director of the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research to conduct a study and submit a report within 10 days.

Possible Causes Being Investigated:

While lifestyle changes, poor diet, lack of exercise, stress, obesity, and non-communicable diseases are generally cited as contributing factors to heart ailments, the sudden surge in Hassan has raised specific questions.

The expert committee has been tasked to specifically investigate if there’s any link to COVID-19 or its vaccines, though initial statements from experts like Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil (Medical Education Minister) suggest no direct evidence linking the deaths to COVID-19 vaccines.

The lack of proper implementation of the ‘STEMI’ program (ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction program), which ensures rapid diagnosis and treatment for heart attack patients, is also being scrutinised as a potential contributing factor to fatalities.

Symptoms and Prevention:

Health officials are urging people, especially those aged 30-50, to undergo routine heart health screenings and not ignore early symptoms like chest pain, fatigue, or breathlessness.

The government is planning to develop a robust program focusing on early detection, awareness, and preventive care. This situation in Hassan is considered a public health crisis, and the ongoing investigation aims to determine the specific causes behind this alarming trend to implement targeted interventions.
