In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics, Mangaluru police arrested four individuals in two separate operations for allegedly attempting to sell the banned drug MDMA. Cases have been registered against all the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The first operation was carried out by the Mangaluru City Crime Branch after officers received credible information about illegal drug sales from a lodge in the Bendore area. During the raid, police arrested Mohammed Nadeem, Umarul Farooq, and Imtiyaz Ismail Kinya.
Officials seized 35.53 grams of MDMA and cash amounting to Rs 7030 from the three accused. Following the operation, the suspects were handed over to Kadri Police Station, where a formal case was registered. They were later produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
In another incident, Pandeshwar police acted on specific intelligence near Mulihithlu in the Bolara area and arrested Dhanush while he was allegedly trying to sell MDMA to the public.
Police recovered 2.32 grams of the banned substance from his possession. A separate case was registered under the NDPS Act, and the accused was produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
The police said investigations are continuing in both cases to determine whether the accused had links to a larger drug distribution network operating in the region.
