DK Shivakumar Accuses BJP And JDS Of Being Behind KPSC Controversies

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has stepped up his criticism of the BJP and JDS over controversies surrounding the Karnataka Public Service Commission. He accused the two opposition parties of having a major role in what he described as the commission’s past controversies.

Shivakumar made the remarks while responding to the opposition BJP’s padayatra against the Karnataka government. Speaking to reporters, he said the opposition had been involved in numerous controversies during its time in power and claimed that his government would rather concentrate on development than spend its time responding to every allegation.

The Deputy Chief Minister also raised questions about the appointment of Shivashankarappa Sahukar as KPSC chairman. He questioned who had recommended or appointed Sahukar and who had maintained contact with him during his tenure.

According to Shivakumar, Sahukar was appointed chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission when the BJP government led by former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was in power. He brought up the appointment while responding to questions surrounding the current KPSC controversy.

Shivakumar also referred to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and his reported communication with the state government regarding action against Sahukar. He described the issue as an indication of differences within the opposition camp and questioned why the matter was being raised in the present political debate.

The Deputy Chief Minister further targeted the opposition over its criticism of former minister B Nagendra. He said Nagendra had voluntarily resigned from his ministerial position but claimed that the opposition remained dissatisfied despite the resignation.

Shivakumar referred to Nagendra in sympathetic terms while defending the decision taken at the time. His comments came as the opposition continued to raise questions about controversies involving the state government and its ministers.

The Congress leader also said that Home Minister Priyank Kharge was being targeted by the opposition despite having information related to earlier controversies. Shivakumar claimed that details concerning previous scandals were available with the Home Department and suggested that the government would make those details public.
