Cabinet reshuffle buzz intensifies as DK brothers meet Congress high command ahead of Siddaramaiah’s Delhi visit

Bengaluru: As Chief Minister Siddaramaiah gears up for the cabinet reshuffle, speculation surrounding the power dynamics within the Karnataka Congress intensifies. On Sunday, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and his younger brother, D.K. Suresh, met with top AICC leaders in New Delhi, fueling rumors about ongoing discussions related to party leadership and cabinet appointments.

The meeting between the Shivakumar brothers and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge has raised questions about the next steps in the Congress party’s leadership structure. In the wake of these discussions, there is increasing speculation about potential changes in the KPCC (Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee) president’s post.

Shivakumar Addresses Leadership Concerns

Following the meeting, D.K. Shivakumar spoke to the media and made it clear that he is not looking to blackmail or undermine the party. “I have been working tirelessly day and night to build the party. I am not one to use the Congress as a bargaining tool. My goal has always been to strengthen the party and bring it back to power,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to the Congress cause.

Shivakumar also addressed the swirling rumors regarding his potential resignation as the KPCC president. “Why should I resign from the position? My mental, physical, and political health is in great shape. There is no need for me to step down. Until the party directs me otherwise, I will continue to serve as a disciplined soldier,” he stated firmly.

He also shared his plans to finalize dates for the inauguration of the 100 Congress Bhavans in the state, which he had been coordinating with Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. “I have written a book titled Gandhi Bharat and will be releasing it soon. The Congress foundation day celebrations are something I will oversee. Why would I resign when I have so many important tasks at hand?” Shivakumar asserted.

Talks About Cabinet Reshuffle and Party’s Future

On questions regarding the ongoing cabinet reshuffle and whether he had discussed it with Kharge, Shivakumar clarified that such matters are under the purview of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “The Chief Minister will discuss the reshuffle with the high command.

If I am called, I will attend. But my focus is on finalizing the dates for the Congress office building inauguration and ensuring the smooth execution of the event. I wish for Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge to jointly inaugurate the office buildings.”

He also revealed that the Congress had secured approval for the construction of new party offices, including the development of 75-80 office spaces with land already acquired for the project. “We are set to build 100 Congress offices across Karnataka, with an initial budget allocation of ₹2.3 crore for the construction,” Shivakumar added.

The cabinet reshuffle, which has been eagerly anticipated, is expected to bring significant changes within the state Congress leadership. With Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah at the helm, the party seems focused on solidifying its position ahead of upcoming elections and establishing a unified front in the state.

Speculation Continues Ahead of Key Decisions

As talks about the reshuffle continue to unfold, Karnataka’s political landscape remains in flux. While Shivakumar has repeatedly emphasized his commitment to the party, observers are keenly watching whether there will be any leadership changes or if he will continue to hold his influential position within the Congress party.

With a busy schedule ahead, including the inauguration of Congress Bhavans and the potential for further discussions with the high command, Karnataka’s Congress leadership is preparing for a busy few weeks.
