Blast under KSRTC bus in Shikaripura village: Averted catastrophe
Shikaripura: A terrifying incident in Hirekalavatti village, Shikaripura taluk of Shivamogga district, has sparked concern across the state. A bomb placed beneath a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus exploded on Monday evening. Fortunately, a major disaster was averted.
The explosion occurred as the bus, traveling from Mudbasiddhapura to Shikaripura, was nearing Hirekalavatti village. The force of the blast caused the bus to lose control and crash into a nearby electricity transformer (TIS), causing it to come to a sudden halt.
Close call: 45 students on board just minutes earlier
The blast sent waves of panic throughout the area. Remarkably, just seven minutes before the explosion, over 45 students had been on the same bus. Their timely departure from the bus before the incident potentially saved their lives.
Explosion details: Tire explosion reduces impact
The bomb, placed under the bus, exploded on the tire rim, which reduced the overall impact. Had the bomb detonated underneath the main body of the bus, or between the tires, the consequences could have been far more devastating, causing significant injuries or fatalities to the passengers.
Driver’s statement: Action against culprits
After the explosion, the bus driver, Basavaraj, informed the authorities, saying, “The people responsible for planting the bomb must be dealt with strictly.” The police have launched an investigation to uncover the motive behind the explosion and to identify those responsible for planting the bomb.
The authorities are now working to gather more information on the incident and the individuals involved, aiming to prevent such acts of violence in the future.
