BJP slams Congress government, alleges “1,000 lies in 1,000 days”

Bengaluru: The Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the ruling Congress government, alleging that it has deceived the poor, farmers, women and youth during its 1,000 days in office.

In a post on social media platform X, the state BJP unit criticised the government, stating that while the Congress marked its 1,000-day milestone, the people of Karnataka were burdened with “thousands of problems.”

The BJP alleged that the Congress government had failed to deliver on its promises and instead created multiple crises across sectors. Listing what it described as “sample failures,” the party accused the government of neglecting farmers, pushing youth into unemployment, and burdening citizens with rising prices.

According to the BJP, farmers have been driven to distress, youth have been left without meaningful employment opportunities, and the general public is grappling with price hikes. The party further alleged that there has been zero development during the Congress tenure.

The opposition also levelled serious charges of corruption, claiming that the government prioritised scams over governance. It accused the administration of betraying Dalits and oppressed communities and misusing funds meant for welfare schemes.

Among the allegations were claims that public money was being siphoned off, that there was protection for illegal activities such as drug networks, and that law and order had deteriorated across the state. The BJP further alleged irregularities in welfare schemes, including the Gruha Lakshmi programme, claiming that thousands of crores had not reached intended beneficiaries.

The party also accused the government of failing to honour its pre-election guarantees, terming it a betrayal of the people of Karnataka.

Describing the Congress administration’s 1,000-day tenure as “meaningless,” the BJP said the government had delivered problems instead of progress, and reiterated that the people would hold it accountable in the coming days.
