BJP intensifies attack, demands full probe into Dharmasthala “conspiracy”by Urban naxals

Suvarna Vidhana: Senior BJP leaders have renewed their sharp attack on the Karnataka government over the Dharmasthala “burude gang” case, asserting that the party’s earlier warnings of a larger conspiracy have now been proved right.

Speaking to reporters outside the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashoka claimed that “urban Naxal elements” were behind the episode and demanded that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) identify the key figures who allegedly financed and directed the accused.

Ashoka reiterated that the BJP had long maintained that six individuals had conspired to defame Dharmasthala, a revered spiritual centre. “Who funded these six? Who is the big shark behind them? The SIT must trace the mastermind and arrest him.

Today it is Ayyappa, Shani Singapura and Dharmasthala. Next, they will drag village deities like Maaramma and Anjaneya. We will raise the issue strongly in the Assembly,” he said.

BJP MLC C.T. Ravi echoed the charge, stating that the plot was aimed at weakening the religious faith of “crores of devotees.” Ravi said his earlier comments had been dismissed, but the SIT’s preliminary findings had now confirmed a conspiracy.

“This is a conversion mafia. A neo-Communist mindset is guiding them. They have nurtured this entire ecosystem. A thorough and comprehensive investigation is essential, and the government must handle this with seriousness,” he demanded.

Challenging the government’s approach, MLA S.R. Vishwanath said the BJP had labelled it a conspiracy from the beginning, and the SIT’s detailed inquiry had now validated those concerns. Another BJP MLA, Channabasappa, urged the government not to “play politics” over the issue, insisting that all six accused should be punished and that the matter must be raised forcefully in the legislature.

C.T. Ravi also criticised the government for allegedly relying on the claims of the “burude gang” instead of verifying facts independently. “The gang pointed to spots for digging and the government obeyed. Those who were villains became heroes, and the heroes were painted as villains. Faith is sacred in this country. Whatever happens, truth alone triumphs,” he said.

BJP leaders further alleged that more individuals were involved beyond the six arrested, claiming that financial support was extended even to YouTubers to amplify the false narrative. They demanded that the case be shifted to a fast-track court to ensure swift trial and stringent punishment for everyone involved in the conspiracy, asserting that any attempt to target Hindu faith must face strict legal consequences.
