BJP celebrates Maharashtra local body poll victory at Bengaluru party office

Bengaluru: Following the resounding victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies in the Maharashtra local body elections, party leaders and workers in Bengaluru celebrated the outcome by bursting firecrackers and distributing sweets outside the state BJP office on Thursday.

The celebratory mood reflected the party’s confidence after registering a major win in one of the country’s most significant municipal elections, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Party leaders termed the result a clear endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the BJP’s governance model.

Speaking to the media, Bengaluru North BJP district president S. Harish said the BJP and its allies had secured a massive lead in Mumbai, the country’s largest municipal corporation. “This is a moment of great joy for us. For years, Congress leaders claimed they could win only if elections were conducted through ballot papers.

They lost badly, including in our state, and now they may once again blame EVMs,” he remarked sarcastically. Harish also noted that after nearly 30 years, the BJP is set to take control of the mayor’s post in Mumbai, calling it a historic achievement.

He added that the party’s victory was not limited to Maharashtra, pointing out BJP’s success in Thiruvananthapuram as well. “This is the result of the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People across the country are accepting that there is no alternative to the BJP,” he said, congratulating the people of Mumbai and Maharashtra’s leadership.

Bengaluru Central district BJP president Saptagiri Gowda said the BJP-led alliance’s win in the country’s richest municipal corporation demonstrated the people’s clear verdict. “Mumbai voters have shown who the real Shiv Sena is. There was a lot of political drama in the name of Shiv Sena, but the people have rejected it. This is a true victory of democracy,” he said, congratulating party workers and leaders.

State BJP spokesperson Prakash Shesharaghavachar accused leaders like Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray of running divisive campaigns. “Mumbai’s mature voters have given them a fitting reply and delivered an unprecedented mandate in favour of the BJP,” he said.

Several BJP leaders, including state spokesperson H.N. Chandrashekar, Bengaluru North district general secretary Bhanu Rangaswamy, senior leaders, former corporators and party workers, were present during the celebrations, underlining the party’s upbeat mood ahead of upcoming political battles.
