After cracks down on fake Nandini Ghee ,KMF warns franchises of cancellation of licenses if sold other brands
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has issued a strict warning to all Nandini Parlours across the state, directing them to immediately stop selling products of other brands. The decision comes in the wake of the recent bust of a major counterfeit ghee racket that misused the reputation of Nandini ghee to sell adulterated products.
The crackdown followed a joint operation by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police and KMF’s vigilance team, which uncovered a sophisticated network producing fake ghee. According to officials, the accused used to legally purchase original Nandini ghee packets from KMF and then transport them to a godown in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu.
The packets were then refilled with adulterated or low-quality ghee but retained the original packaging, enabling them to circulate the counterfeit product easily in the market.
Following the exposure of the racket, KMF has tightened its internal policies to protect the integrity of its brand. The most significant move is banning all third-party brands in Nandini Parlours, which are licensed outlets meant exclusively for KMF products.
KMF Managing Director Shivswami issued a stern warning: “Nandini is a brand built on purity and trust. We will not allow anyone to tarnish its name. No parlour is allowed to sell products of any other brand, and strict action will be taken against violators.”
He further confirmed that notices have already been served to multiple parlours found to be selling outside brands. “From now on, if anyone continues this practice, we will cancel their licence without hesitation,” he added.
The decision aims to ensure strict quality control and restore public confidence after the fake ghee scandal. KMF has also initiated additional monitoring measures and plans to intensify inspections across the state to prevent similar frauds in future.
The crackdown has sent a strong message that KMF will not compromise on purity, especially when it comes to its flagship products like Nandini ghee.
