Aap leader alleges threat and vandalism, byrathi basavaraj faces fresh trouble

Bengaluru : Fresh controversy has erupted around KR Puram MLA Byrathi Basavaraj, who is already out on bail in the high-profile Biklu Shivu murder case. The legislator is now facing new allegations after an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader accused his supporters of vandalising her car and issuing life threats.
AAP leader Satyavani has lodged a complaint with the city Police Commissioner, claiming that Basavaraj’s supporters attacked her property and intimidated her. According to her complaint, unidentified individuals damaged her car parked outside her residence and warned her against political activities.
Speaking to the media, Satyavani alleged that the attacks are politically motivated and linked to her preparations for the upcoming local body elections. “There have been repeated attempts to silence me. If anything happens to me, Byrathi Basavaraj should be held directly responsible,” she said, raising serious concerns over her safety.
She further claimed that last month, defamatory flex banners targeting her character were installed across her ward. “When I initially approached the HAL police, they refused to file a complaint under pressure. Only after approaching the Lokayukta was a case registered,” she alleged.
The AAP leader also accused the police of acting under political influence, stating that such incidents highlight the insecurity faced by women in KR Puram. She has demanded strict action against those involved and protection for herself.
The allegations come at a time when Basavaraj is already under scrutiny in the Biklu Shivu murder case. The case pertains to the murder of rowdy-sheeter Biklu Shivu alias Shivakumar in July 2025 in Bharathinagar, allegedly linked to a land dispute. Basavaraj was named as the fifth accused (A5) for allegedly abetting the crime.
Following the rejection of anticipatory bail, the MLA was arrested by the CID in February 2026 and spent nearly a month in judicial custody before being granted bail by a special court on March 12.
The fresh accusations by the AAP leader have added to the legal and political challenges facing the BJP MLA. While Basavaraj has not yet publicly responded to the latest allegations, the developments are likely to intensify political tensions in Bengaluru ahead of upcoming elections.
