Sandalwood mourns the loss of veteran actor Harish Rai
Bengaluru: Sandalwood is in mourning following the demise of veteran supporting and character actor Harish Rai, who passed away on Wednesday morning.
He had been battling thyroid cancer for several years and was undergoing treatment at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bengaluru. Despite continued medical care, he breathed his last around 11 a.m. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Harish Rai had been suffering from severe health complications due to cancer, which caused abdominal swelling and drastic physical changes over the past few years. Upon learning about his deteriorating condition, several prominent Kannada actors, including Yash, Darshan, and Dhruva Sarja, extended financial assistance to support his treatment. However, despite all efforts, the actor succumbed to his illness today.
A well-known face in Kannada cinema for over two decades, Harish Rai gained immense popularity for his powerful performances in films such as “Om,” “Nalla,” “KGF,” and “KGF 2.” His portrayal in the KGF series earned him the affectionate nickname “KGF Chacha” among fans.
Though his illness had kept him away from the limelight in recent years, Harish Rai remained deeply connected to cinema and was admired for his dedication and humility. His death marks the loss of yet another talented and beloved artist in the Kannada film industry.
Condolences have poured in from fans, colleagues, and film personalities, who have taken to social media to express their grief and pay tribute to the actor’s remarkable contribution to Sandalwood.
