Actress Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan visit Kukke Subramanya temple, perform Sarpa Samskara ritual

Subrahmanya (Dakshina Kannada): South India’s leading actress and Kollywood “Lady Superstar” Nayanthara, along with her husband and noted filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, visited the famous Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple on Wednesday and offered special prayers.

The couple took part in the Sarpa Samskara ritual — a significant puja performed to atone for serpent-related curses and seek divine blessings from Lord Subrahmanya. Temple priests and staff made elaborate arrangements for the couple’s visit, ensuring a smooth and sacred ritual experience.

After completing the rituals, Nayanthara and Vignesh were blessed by the temple priests. The temple’s management committee president, Harish Injadi, honored the couple with a memento and shawl on behalf of the Kukke Subrahmanya Temple administration.

Devotees, who had gathered in large numbers at the temple, were thrilled to catch a glimpse of the star couple. Many took selfies and photographs as Nayanthara and Vignesh graciously interacted with the crowd before departing.

Nayanthara, one of South India’s most acclaimed actresses, began her career in Malayalam cinema before becoming a pan-Indian icon through her performances in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films. Known for her versatility and powerful roles, she has carved a distinct space in the hearts of fans. Apart from her acting prowess, Nayanthara is also known for her philanthropic activities and social causes.

Her husband, Vignesh Shivan, is a well-known Tamil film director, lyricist, and producer who has delivered several successful films. Together, the couple is regarded as one of South Indian cinema’s most admired power pairs, often seen visiting temples and taking part in traditional rituals.

Meanwhile, the temple town of Kukke Subrahmanya is currently witnessing grand celebrations of the annual Champashashti Mahotsava. The festival, held in line with age-old traditions, began on Kartika Bahula Dwadashi (November 6) and will continue till Margashira Shuddha Dwadashi (December 2). The temple premises have been adorned with flowers and lamps, and thousands of devotees are participating in the festivities with devotion and enthusiasm.

The couple’s temple visit during this auspicious period added a spiritual charm to the celebrations, with many devotees considering their presence a divine coincidence.
