Actress Divya Suresh booked for alleged hit-and-run incident in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Kannada actress and former Bigg Boss Kannada Season 8 contestant Divya Suresh has been booked under charges of hit-and-run after her car allegedly collided with a motorcycle near Byatarayanapura in the early hours of October 4.

According to police sources, the incident took place around 1:30 AM near Jayamma Tea Stall in Byatarayanapura. Divya Suresh, who was reportedly in the car, is accused of ramming into a bike and fleeing the spot without stopping to help the injured. In the accident, Anitha, one of the pillion riders, sustained a severe injury to her knee.

Based on a complaint filed by the motorcyclist Kiran, Byatarayanapura Traffic Police registered a case and subsequently summoned Divya Suresh for questioning.

Police findings

According to preliminary reports, the actress claimed that the motorcycle was traveling the wrong way and that three people were riding on it at the time of the accident — which is a traffic violation. Kiran, a cab driver from Deepanjali Nagar, was reportedly traveling with his relative Anusha and another woman Anitha towards Girinagar to visit a hospital.

As their bike crossed an intersection near Jayamma Tea Stall, a speeding car hit them head-on, throwing all three to the ground. Anitha suffered serious knee injuries, and despite being asked to stop, the car allegedly drove away.

Following the complaint, police admitted Anitha to a private hospital, where doctors performed surgery after confirming a fracture in her knee cap.

Investigation and official response

Police traced the vehicle involved using its registration number and found it belonged to Divya Suresh. The car has been seized, and the actress was called in for questioning. After completing preliminary legal formalities, she reportedly reclaimed her vehicle.

West Division Traffic DCP Anup Shetty confirmed the details to ETV Bharat, stating, “The collision between a car and a motorcycle occurred in the Byatarayanapura traffic limits. A woman suffered a severe leg injury. The incident took place on October 4, and an FIR was registered on October 7 following the complaint. The driver’s details were verified, and a notice was issued for inquiry.”

Police said further investigation is ongoing, and accountability will be determined after reviewing all evidence, including eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage.
