Karnataka Bandh: Pro-Kannada groups have called for a statewide bandh in Karnataka on March 22 to protest the Greater Bengaluru Administration Bill and the recent attack on a bus conductor in Belgaum over language issues. The bandh is expected to affect normal life and has drawn mixed reactions from various quarters. MES condemns Shiv Sena’s rant and says no decision has been taken regarding the holiday for schools and colleges in the backdrop of the Karnataka Bandh on March 22. Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa told media on March 20 that a decision will be taken tomorrow.

There is no SSLC exam on Saturday. Children will face problems if there is no public transport. We will discuss with the home department and take a decision tomorrow. They said that providing transport support for the bandh will cause problems for children.

Milk Supply – Distribution will not be disrupted.
Hotels & Restaurants – Will remain open, as per the Bangalore Hotel Association.

Street Vendors & Small Businesses – Uncertainty over participation.
