There is confusion about celebration date of Ganesh festival in Karnataka, in many places it is celebrated on Monday September 18, while in some places it is celebrated on Tuesday September 19.

The state government has issued an order to give Tuesday as a holiday instead of Monday on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi in South Kannada and Udupi districts. There is confusion about celebration date of Ganesh festival in Karnataka, in many places it is celebrated on Monday September 18, while in some places it is celebrated on Tuesday September 19.

According to Karnataka State holiday list Monday is holiday for Ganesh Chaturthi So the government fixed holiday on Monday. And coastal districts like Udupi and Dakshina Kannada government issued order to give holiday on Tuesday September 19.

Since the festival is celebrated on Tuesday in the coastal districts, there has been pressure to give a government holiday on the same day, and people’s representatives have also submitted a request to the government.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundurao had written to the chief secretary and district commissioner to give leave on September 19. Now the official order of the government has come.

Two people have already died due Nipah virus infection and All educational institutions in Kozhikode district will remain closed for a week till September 24 in view of the outbreak. This includes schools, vocational colleges and tuition centres. Meanwhile, the district administration said on Friday that online classes will be ensured throughout the week.

More than 1,080 people are in the contact list of the infected. Also, 130 new people have been added to this list, including 327 health workers. Nipah virus infection has been spreading in Kerala since last one week and necessary measures have been taken as a precautionary measure.

Holiday has been declared for all educational institutions including schools, colleges and tuition centers till September 24. It is said that the holiday given to educational institutions including schools and colleges is likely to be further extended. Only Konzhikode district of Kerala has been given a holiday at present, if the spread of infection increases, there is a possibility that educational institutions in most districts of Kerala will be given a holiday.
