Woman found dead in suspicious circumstances in rented house

Bengaluru : In a chilling incident reported from Adugodi in Bengaluru, the body of a 34-year-old woman employed at a private firm was discovered in a highly decomposed and suspicious state inside her rented residence, triggering concerns of foul play.

The victim, identified as Pooja Dutta, hailed from Hirapur near Dhanbad in Jharkhand and had been residing alone in the city for work. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Adugodi police station.

The case came to light when residents in the neighbourhood sensed a strong stench coming from the house and informed the police. Officers who arrived at the spot had to break open the door, following which they found the woman’s body in a naked and decomposed condition.

Initial observations suggest that the death might have occurred at least two to three days prior. However, the exact cause remains unclear. The state in which the body was found has led investigators to suspect possible foul play, though suicide has not been ruled out.

Police have shifted the body for autopsy, and further clarity is expected once the post-mortem report is available. Meanwhile, a case has been registered and an investigation is underway, including scrutiny of the victim’s phone records and interactions.

Adding a new dimension to the case, the house owner Janakamma shared significant details. According to her, Pooja had been a tenant for the last three years and worked in a private company. “She was unmarried and mostly spoke Hindi,” she said.

The landlord also mentioned that a man frequently visited Pooja. “There used to be frequent arguments between them, though the reason was unknown,” she noted.

She further recalled that she last saw Pooja on Thursday when she stepped out to purchase groceries. “After that, she was not seen again. Later, neighbours informed us about the foul smell,” she said.

“When we broke open the door, we found her lying naked in a pool of blood. The body had decomposed completely,” she added.

The mention of a frequent male visitor and recurring disputes has raised serious questions about his possible involvement. Investigators are now trying to identify and trace the individual, as well as piece together the events leading up to the woman’s death. The case continues to remain a mystery as police await forensic and post-mortem findings.
