Udupi former MLA U R Sabhapathi passed away

U R Sabhapathi, a prominent Congress leader and former MLA, passed away after a brief illness here on Sunday, May 21. Udupi former MLA U R Sabhapathi passed away.

U R Sabhapathi had served as the MLA for the Udupi constituency in 1994 and 1999, leaving a lasting impact on the region. Additionally, he actively participated in the national-level Fisherman Congress, demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of the fishing community.

Sabhapathi was elected MLA from the Udupi Assembly Constituency in 1994 on the KarnatakaCongress Party (KCP) ticket.Later the KCP merged with Congress.

Mr.Sabhapathi was re-elected from Udupi Assembly constituency in 1999 as a congress candidate,but lost against BJP’s K Raghupati Bhat in 2024.
