MI vs SRH: Even if RCB win against GT, MI enter IPL 2023 playoff; check how

The playoff battle of IPL 2023 has come to an exciting stage. Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants have already entered the playoffs, only one spot left and 3 teams fight for that. MI vs SRH: Even if RCB win against GT, MI enter IPL 2023 playoff; check how.

In Match no. 69 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season Mumbai Indians (MI) won the toss vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and opted to bowl first. Captain Rohit Sharma said that, at Wankhede, batting gets easier as the game progresses.

Umran Malik is back in Sunrisers playing 11, which is good news for Hyderabad-bases franchise. MI batters like Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Nehal Wadhera will need to be in their best form tonight if they want to keep Mumbai Indians’ hopes alive for the playoffs qualification.

There is a direct competition between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore for this one spot. Accordingly, the 2 matches of Super Sunday will decide the playoff path of both the teams.  Mumbai Indians can collect 16 points by winning this match.

However, reaching the playoffs is not guaranteed. In the match to be held here in the afternoon, Mumbai Indians team is playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians can collect 16 points by winning this match. However, reaching the playoffs is not guaranteed.

Because currently both teams have 14 points with 7 wins out of 13 matches in the points table. But here the RCB team’s net run rate is +0.180 so it is at the 4th position in the points table. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians are at the 6th position with a net run rate of minus 0.128.

That’s why winning against Sunrisers Hyderabad is not enough. Playoffs can be entered only if the net run rate is higher than RCB. For this, Mumbai Indians need to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by at least 80 runs. In case of chasing, the target given by SRH should be chased in at least 12 overs.

Another factor here is that the calculation of Mumbai Indians team’s victory will also depend on the victory of RCB team. That means if RCB won by 100 runs against Gujarat Titans, then Mumbai Indians should have won by 180 runs against SRH.

Only that means Mumbai Indians can get a higher net run rate than RCB. But since Mumbai Indians will play first here, RCB’s net run rate after the win cannot be estimated. However, taking into account the current net run rate, Mumbai Indians will have to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by at least 80+ runs.

A win against Gujarat Titans is enough for RCB to enter the playoffs. But Mumbai Indians can enter the playoffs only if they get a great win and increase their net run rate. If Mumbai Indians win against SRH and RCB lose against Gujarat Titans, Rohit Sharma’s side will enter the playoffs directly with 16 points. No net run rate is taken into account here.
