Traffic cop smashes car’s rear glass over drunk driving suspicion, video goes viral
Mangaluru, A dramatic incident near Nanthoor Circle in Mangaluru has gone viral on social media after a traffic policeman was caught on camera breaking the rear glass of a car during a drunk driving check.
According to reports, traffic police stopped a vehicle on suspicion of drunk driving on Sunday night. However, the driver allegedly ignored the officer’s signal and continued to drive ahead, prompting the policeman to react angrily and smash the rear windshield of the car.
The video of the incident, which shows the officer breaking the glass and members of the public confronting him over his conduct, has since spread rapidly online. Onlookers at the scene were seen questioning the police officer’s aggressive behavior.
Following the incident, police detained the driver and conducted an alcohol test, confirming that he was under the influence. A case of drunk and drive has been registered against him at the Mangaluru East Traffic Police Station.
Netizens have criticized the act of damaging private property, calling it an excessive use of force stating no one has right to take law into hands and behaving like goondas.
Police officials have stated that the matter is under review and further investigation is underway. The viral footage has reignited debate over law enforcement practices and the limits of police authority during traffic enforcement drives.
