Three MBBS students killed in Kozhikode accident; Locals allege murder

Kozhikode: Police have launched a detailed investigation into a tragic road accident in Koyilandy that claimed the lives of three MBBS students in the early hours of Tuesday. The victims, identified as Nandakishore, Abhiyan, and Abhinav, were students of Malabar Medical College.

The accident occurred around 2:30 am when the students were travelling on an electric scooter. According to preliminary findings, the scooter is believed to have lost control and rammed into an electric pole before falling into a roadside drain. All three students reportedly died on the spot due to the impact.

However, locals have raised suspicions that another vehicle might have hit the scooter from behind, leading to the दुर्घಟನೆ. They pointed out that the rear portion of the scooter was severely damaged, which, according to them, is unusual if the vehicle had only collided with a pole. This has led to speculation that a hit-and-run case cannot be ruled out.

Acting on these concerns, police examined CCTV footage from nearby areas. However, no clear visuals of the accident or any suspicious vehicle have been found so far, leaving investigators without concrete evidence to support the hit-and-run theory at this stage.

Officials said an autorickshaw driver first noticed the victims lying injured and immediately alerted local residents and the police. The students were rushed to hospital, but doctors confirmed that they had already succumbed to their injuries.

The bodies have been shifted to Kozhikode Medical College for postmortem examination, after which they will be handed over to the families. Police stated that all possible angles are being examined and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the student community, raising concerns over road safety and the need for better surveillance in accident-prone areas.
