The case came to light after a complaint was filed by Sandeep Kumar, a native of Kasaragod. As per the complaint, he had come to Kundapura around three months ago, during which he came into contact with the accused. On September 2, Asma allegedly lured him into an illicit relationship and invited him to a rented house.

Once the victim arrived, other accused joined them and allegedly threatened him, demanding ₹3 lakh. When he attempted to escape, they reportedly tied him with a rope and assaulted him. The gang also snatched cash from his pocket and forced him to transfer money digitally.

Police said the accused coerced the victim into transferring ₹30,000 via Google Pay and also withdrew ₹40,000 through Paytm. The victim was further threatened with dire consequences, including death threats, if he failed to pay the remaining amount.

Following the complaint, police launched an immediate operation and apprehended all six accused within three hours. Cases related to assault, robbery, extortion, and criminal intimidation have been registered.
