Sexual harassment of more than 50 girl students: Govt School Principal arrest

Some female students of the school lodged a complaint with the police on September 14. But the commission said that action was taken only on October 30. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also been constituted to investigate the matter.

More than 50 girl students of the government school had written a letter to the administration and the government demanding strict action against the principal. But the education department only suspended the accused on October 27 and did not take any further action.

The Haryana Women’s Commission intervened in the case, after which the accused was arrested by the police. The 55-year-old principal has been arrested. We have received 60 written complaints against the principal from girl students. 50 of these complaints were related to physical harassment by the accused.

It is alleged that the accused called them to his chamber and harassed students. The Jind district police on Monday registered a case against the principal under sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 341 and 342 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) of the Indian Penal Code.
