Sexual assault allegations: Music composer and singer Sachin Sanghvi was arrested on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in Mumbai following sexual assault allegations made by a woman.
The complainant, a woman in her 20s, alleged that Sanghvi contacted her on Instagram, promised her a chance in a music album, proposed marriage, and sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions at his studio.
Sanghvi was arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) but was released on bail shortly after. A lawyer representing Sachin Sanghvi has stated that the allegations in the First Information Report (FIR) are “absolutely baseless and unsubstantiated,” and that his client’s detention was “illegal.”
Sachin Sanghvi is half of the renowned music composer duo Sachin-Jigar, known for songs in films like Stree 2 and Bhediya. Sachin Sanghvi, the music director duo who has composed music for Rashmika Mandanna’s recently released ‘Thama’ and many other films, including the super hit film ‘Stree 2’.
The woman said that Sachin had once called the girl to his studio and sexually exploited her there. The woman also said that Sachin had sexually exploited her many times after promising to marry her.
Talking about the allegations against Sachin, his lawyer said, “The allegations in the FIR against my client are completely baseless. The case does not merit investigation. The police arrested my client illegally and that is why he was immediately released on bail.”
