Maddur Stone-Pelting Case: H.D. Kumaraswamy directed to take strict action
Maddur Stone-Pelting Case: Following the stone-pelting incident during a Ganesha procession in Maddur, Mandya district, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has directed Mandya’s Superintendent of Police (SP), Mallikarjun Baladandi, to take strict and immediate action against the culprits without any hesitation.
The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, September 7, when a Ganesha idol immersion procession was passing near a mosque in Ram Rahim Nagar, Maddur. Stones were allegedly thrown at the procession, which led to a retaliatory response and a tense confrontation between two groups.

The police had to use a lathi charge to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been imposed in Maddur, and a bandh has been observed in the town. Police have taken at least 21 people into custody in connection with the incident, with efforts underway to arrest more individuals who have been identified.
Kumaraswamy’s notice comes in the wake of public protests by pro-Hindu organizations and heightened tension in the area. He has also reportedly criticized the state’s ruling party, alleging that their “appeasement politics” is the reason for the unrest. The police are continuing to maintain a heavy presence in the town to ensure peace and prevent further escalation.
