Dharmasthala Case: Police raid on YouTuber Sameer house
Dharmasthala Case: On September 4, 2025, a team of police from the Belthangady police station in Karnataka conducted a raid on the residence of YouTuber Sameer M.D. in Bengaluru. The raid was carried out with a search warrant obtained from the court, as police were seeking to confiscate his computer, hard drives, and other equipment used to create his videos.
The raid is part of the ongoing investigation into the “Dharmasthala case.” Sameer is accused of spreading misinformation and fabricating content related to the case through an AI-generated video on his YouTube channel.

Background of the Dharmasthala Case:
The case began after a former sanitation worker in Dharmasthala, C.N. Chinnaiah, came forward with allegations that he was forced to bury and burn the bodies of numerous women and children, many of whom showed signs of sexual assault, between 1995 and 2014.
The allegations led to the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the claims. However, the investigation took a major turn when Chinnaiah was arrested on charges of perjury after forensic evidence contradicted his claims about a skull he presented to the police.

YouTuber Sameer M.D. is under scrutiny for a video he posted on his channel, which allegedly used AI to generate content that went beyond the complainant’s official statement, and included fabricated details about the case.
Dharmasthala police have registered a suo-motu case against him for spreading false information and creating public mischief.
Sameer was previously granted anticipatory bail by a court in Mangaluru on August 21, but was directed to cooperate with the investigation. The police raid on his house today follows this directive and is part of their effort to gather digital evidence.
