Delhi Murder Case: Part of Shraddha’s skull, bones found in Mehrauli forest

Delhi: Police recovered Shraddha’s bag from Aftab’s Chattarpur flat and found some of her clothes and shoes. In the case of 27-year-old Shraddha Walker being brutally murdered by her live-in partner Aftab Ameen Poonawala , Delhi Police in Mehrauli  recovered more remains from the forest. Skull base, severed jaw and more bones were recovered today (Sunday). It will be sent for forensic testing to match it with Shraddha’s father’s DNA samples. Aftab admits to hiding all the evidence related to Shraddha. After murdering Shraddha, he destroyed three pictures found in the house. Police recovered Shraddha’s bag from Aftab’s Chattarpur flat and found some of her clothes and shoes. A narcoanalysis test of Aftab will be conducted after the forensic science laboratory team takes up the request of the Delhi Police.

Police initially recovered 8 to 10 bones, which have been sent for forensic examination. The second key location in the investigation is Aftab Poonawala’s Chattarpur flat. This is where the couple lived first. The third major location of this investigation is Gurugram, an area near the call center where Aftab last worked. The police have been searching the forest every day for the past three days. Today, he left Aftab’s flat with two big black plastic bags.

The next few days are crucial for the investigation as Aftab’s custody ends on Wednesday. Key evidence in the case is yet to be found.Police seized sharp cutting tools from Aftab’s flat yesterday. Police suspect that it may have been used to mutilate Shraddha Walker’s body. They found a heavy black polythene bag at Aftab’s Gurugram workplace the previous day.

Sources said investigations into the six-month-old murder were based on forensic reports, call data and circumstantial evidence in the absence of witnesses. Shraddha and Aftab left for Delhi in May. Four days later, Aftab strangles Shraddha to death in an argument over expenses and betrayal of trust. He then cut the body into 35 pieces, kept it in a fridge and dumped it in the forest for 18 days, police said.
