Bengaluru: In a horrific incident that shocked Bengaluru on Monday, a 19-year-old girl was stabbed to death at Presidency College. The assailant was shifted to a hospital in critical condition after he tried to take his own life after the attack. Bengaluru Presidency College murder case: Student murder for love rejection.

Visuals from the campus showed college security guards picking up the injured girl from under a tree in order to move her to an ambulance. The victim identified as Layasmitha was a student of the college located in Bangalore Rural, while the boy responsible for the attack was named Pawan Kalyan. The accused was a student of another institution and reached Presidency College with the intention to harm Layasmitha.

Soon after the murder, the accused youth stabbed himself with the same weapon in a bid to end his life. Pawan Kalyan held a grudge against the girl for rejecting him. She was allegedly in love with another boy, sources said. However, the police said they are yet to ascertain the reason for the murder.
