Anekal woman murders elderly neighbour for gold after luring her with sweets
Anekal : In a shocking crime from Kooguru village in Anekal taluk, a 30-year-old housewife allegedly murdered a 68-year-old elderly woman after inviting her home on the pretext of offering kajjaya (a traditional sweet). The accused then hid the body inside a sack in her home for two days before dumping it near a lake.
The accused, identified as Deepa (30), has confessed to killing Bhadramma (68), a resident of the same village, for her gold ornaments, according to police. The murder came to light after a missing person complaint was filed by the victim’s family when Bhadramma did not return home since October 30.
Police investigating the case examined CCTV footage from nearby houses and found that the elderly woman was last seen entering Deepa’s home. She was never seen leaving. Based on this crucial clue, police questioned Deepa, who eventually admitted to the crime.
According to investigators, Deepa strangled Bhadramma after removing her gold jewellery. She then placed the body in a sack and kept it hidden inside her house for two days. When the decomposing body began to emit a strong odour, Deepa allegedly told her son that the smell was from rotten waste and sought his help to dispose of it. Together, they carried the sack and dumped it in the bushes near Doddathimmasandra Lake.
A police team led by Sarjapur Inspector Naveen cracked the case after intensive investigation. The body was sent for postmortem examination, and a murder case has been registered at the Sarjapur Police Station.
ASP Venkatesh Prasanna and DySP Mohan Kumar visited the scene and conducted an inspection. The gruesome incident has created widespread shock in Kooguru village. Locals expressed horror over the betrayal and greed that led to the elderly woman’s brutal murder.
