Virat Kohli back to Delhi team after 15 years
Virat Kohli: The inclusion of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant in Delhi’s list of probable for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy will undoubtedly add significant star power and experience to the tournament.
Former Team India captain Virat Kohli, who was at the peak of his form in the ODI series against South Africa, is now ready to step into the domestic arena after a long time. King Kohli is ready to play in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
DDCA has selected Virat Kohli in Delhi’s potential Vijay Hazare team. Not only Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant is also one of the potential players of the Delhi team. It was certain that Virat Kohli would play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy during the ODI series against South Africa. Accordingly, Kohli is reported to play for Delhi in three matches of this domestic tournament.
Virat Kohli has officially confirmed his availability to the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) to play in the tournament. This marks his return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after a long gap—he last played in India’s premier domestic one-day tournament in the 2009-10 season.
Kohli is expected to play a minimum of three matches for Delhi. His participation, coming off a Player of the Series performance in the recent ODI series against South Africa, is seen as a major boost and a motivation for the younger players in the squad.
The Delhi team, which is placed in Elite Group D, will play its group matches in Bengaluru. If Kohli plays the first three matches, here is the schedule for those games:
1. Wednesday, Dec 24, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh – Alur Cricket Stadium, Bengaluru
2. Friday, Dec 26, 2025 – Gujarat – Alur Cricket Stadium, Bengaluru
3. Monday, Dec 29, 2025 – Saurashtra – Alur Cricket Stadium II, Bengaluru
Rishabh Pant has also been named among the probable for the Delhi squad and is expected to join the team for the tournament. This move aligns with the recent emphasis by the BCCI for centrally contracted players to participate in domestic cricket when they are not on international duty.
