T20 World Cup 2026: Team India out from tournament!
T20 World Cup 2026: The West Indies and South Africa teams have won brilliantly in the Super-8 round of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. T20 World Cup 2026: Team India out from tournament!
In the first match of Group-1, South Africa defeated Team India by 76 runs, while in the second match, the West Indies team recorded a brilliant victory against Zimbabwe by 107 runs.
Due to the brilliant performance of these two teams, the road to the semi-finals of the Indian team has become even tougher. Because if these two teams win in the next matches, they will almost certainly reach the semi-finals. The main reason for this is the net run rate of both the teams. If it happened team India will out from tournament.
Here, the South African team has a net run rate of +3.800, while the West Indies team has a net run rate of +5.350. It will not be enough for Team India to win the next two matches to surpass the net run rate of these two teams. Instead, a brilliant victory is inevitable.
This means that the net run rate will be positive only if Team India wins the match against Zimbabwe by at least 70 to 80 runs. Now, only by winning the match against West Indies, they can surpass South Africa and the Windies in net run rate.
Thus, the excellent performance of the West Indies and South Africa teams is likely to upset Team India’s calculations.
Team India’s semi-final calculation:
If India wins its next two matches, but the West Indies team defeats South Africa, the three teams will get 4 points each. Then, there is a high possibility of India being eliminated from the tournament on the basis of run rate (because India’s NRR is currently low).
India will not be enough to just win their next matches (against Zimbabwe and West Indies), they will have to win by a huge margin of around 70-100 runs to improve their run rate.
If India’s semi-final path is to be smooth, South Africa must win its next two matches. Then, if India wins its next two matches, it can easily go to the semi-finals with the 2nd position.
That is, if Team India wants to directly reach the semi-finals, South Africa must win its next two matches.
If they lose to West Indies and win against Zimbabwe, Team India’s semi-final path will become even tougher. That is, Team India must win both its matches on the basis of net run rate. Otherwise, there is a high possibility of them being eliminated from the tournament.
